Seneca Cayuga ARC, has been named 2011 Member Agency of the Year by New York State Industries for the Disabled, Inc. (NYSID). NYSID assists over 150 not-for-profit organizations in New York in providing sole source commodities and services to state government departments and agencies. SCARC was selected for its success in growing its lawn maintenance, janitorial and commodity business, along with its reputation for excellence in customer satisfaction.
Upon receiving the award in Albany, Kevin Smith, Executive Director said, "We are deeply honored to be the recipient of this award. This past year, we have been able to achieve 9% growth in NYSID contracts despite a down economy. Most importantly, we have assisted more than a dozen New Yorkers with disabilities earn a living wage, and move towards greater independence."
Through the vocational services program, Seneca Cayuga Industries contracts for janitorial or lawn maintenance services at almost 50 state-operated facilities throughout Cayuga, Seneca, Wayne, Onondaga and Oswego Counties. The agency also manufactures mesh laundry bags for the NYS Department of Correctional Services, and packages and ships rulers to many state operated facilities.
